A homeless dog found her forever home after limping into a house in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

The front door of the house was opened because of a windstorm, and that allowed the dog to find a sanctuary for herself. The house where the pooch had entered uninvited, belonged to Jake Jokinen, a popular sports podcast host. Jake not only welcomed the canine but also decided to adopt her.

Jake told reporters that his wife woke him up in the middle of the night because she thought there was a dog in the house. When Jake went downstairs, he found a hobbling pooch who was also severely malnourished.

The very next day, Jake and his family took the dog to the vet to get her checked and treated. The pooch was also scanned for a microchip, but no chip was found.

Jake said that even if the dog had a microchip, it would not have made any difference because he had already decided to adopt the pooch. Jake added that he could tell just by looking at the emaciated dog that she possibly had a terrible owner.

Jake and his family named the dog Suzy after Suzyn Waldman, who is a famous sportscaster.

Jake wanted to turn the dog’s situation from negative to positive.

Jake started a donation fund for Suzy to get her the treatment that she required. The fund received $19,000 in donations. Jake told news outlets that after getting Suzy treated, the remaining money would be used for the needy animals who are living in the shelters.

Suzy is now on her way to recovery. The pooch is adapting well to her new surroundings and is also receiving a lot of care from her new family.

Suzy has a wonderful personality, and Jake and his family are totally in love with the dog.
