I think we can all agree that dogs are loyal animals who would do anything to protect their owners from harm. This is also why we consider dogs to be man’s best friend. Dog’s aren’t just pets; they’re also loyal companions who might end up saving your life one day.

For one woman, her dog ended up saving her life while she was out walking on a trail. An Arizona woman named Laura Godwin was out walking her dogs when something dangerous happened to her that nearly cost her her life.

During one of her daily walks to exercise her dogs, Laura almost stepped on a rattlesnake which was sitting on a path. The rattlesnake is one of the most venomous snakes in the world. A single bite can deliver enough venom that can cause a lot of pain to adult humans.

Laura realized it was too late when the snake leaped to bite her leg in self-defense. Luckily for Laura, one of her Golden Retriever puppy named Todd acted quickly by rushing into the snake and shielded her human mom from the bite.

Unfortunately, the snake bit Todd right on his muzzle. When Laura realized what was happening, she carried Todd to safety and rushed him to an animal hospital. Thankfully, the hospital had antivenom and administered it to Todd.

The bite and the venom caused Todd’s face to swell. Todd was eventually kept in the hospital for the entire day to monitor his condition.

Although rattlesnake bites aren’t usually deadly for full-grown humans, it can cause a lot of pain and discomfort. Todd is definitely a hero for Laura and deserved the hugs and kisses he received from his mom.

After being administered the antivenom and a little bit of rest, Todd is back on his feet. The swelling on his face eventually started to subside and recovered quite quickly.

Thanks to his quick action, Todd saved his mom’s life. It won’t be a surprise that from now on, Todd may be getting extra treats from his mom.

Here’s a video showing Todd’s bravery and how he suffered from the ordeal. So, the next time you see your pet, hug it. You’ll never know when it will save your life.
