Howl of a Dog, a dog rescue organization, found Harper in a public pound. The dog was sad and scared, but more than that, she had several health issues that had not been addressed while she was living in the pound.
She suffered from flea infestation and intestinal infection. Her paws were red, a sign of irritation from being constantly on a cold, wet floor. Harper was also underweight.
The poor dog was starving. When she was taken to the vet for examination, the staff gave her a bowl of dog food, and she devoured it in seconds. She seemed to look for more food to eat as they gave her water to drink.
Harper was given medicine for her intestinal infection. She also had a medicated bath to get rid of the fleas. In no time, her health started to improve.
The sad, scared dog began to fade into the background as a playful Harper started to emerge. The lively dog loved the outdoors. She would run on the wide open space or dig in the dirt—things she was not able to do in the pound.
She also loved to play with other dogs. Most of all, she loved to play with her rescuers. She couldn’t kiss them enough, as if she knew that if they didn’t rescue her, she would most likely have been put down.
Harper’s fur grew healthier and thicker, and her body gained significant weight. No longer looking like the malnourished dog she used to be, Harper transformed into a beautiful, loving dog.
Howl of a Dog kept her in their care in Romania until she finally found a forever home in the arms of a caring German family.
Harper and many other rescue dogs like her are living proof that dogs deserve to be given a second chance in life.
