Before Tommy came into their lives, Jenna Termolen and her family have always wanted a pet dog. They were initially looking for a female pup, but a shelter volunteer invited them to see Tommy — everyone’s favorite and one of the friendliest in the bunch.

Although Tommy was a male dog, the family considered adopting him. What happened next convinced Jenna and her kids that Tommy was the one for them.

“As the volunteers were about to put Tommy back in his kennel, he suddenly laid on the floor as if telling us not to leave him. He actually ended up being carried by some staff back to his enclosure,” Jenna recalled.

The family continued to see the other dogs in the shelter and looked for a potential companion. However, the other pups didn’t appeal to them the way Tommy did. Jenna decided to finalize the adoption papers to bring their new buddy home.

The whole family lived in Illinois for quite a while until they moved to New York. Jenna’s kids had to say goodbye to their neighborhood friends, and so did Tommy. It was hard for the pup to let go of his doggy pals, but he had to move on and settle down to their new home together with his family.

One day, Jenna got a call from her son while she was outside running errands. “My son told me he saw a large dog in front of our new house,” the worried mom mentioned.

She immediately went home only to find out that Tommy was showing the unfamiliar large dog around their house. Jenna saw that the dog had a collar on with the name “Jackson” on it, so she looked for his owners and brought the pup back to them.

Jackson’s owners were a little embarrassed, but they told Jenna that they already expected this from the pup. Their dog has long been looking for a new friend in the neighborhood.

Ever since then, Jackson walks about four blocks and visits Tommy every day. “Jackson usually waits at the front door and barks softly to call Tommy out. I either let him inside our house, or Tommy goes out to play with him,” said Jenna.

There’s no denying that these adorable dogs know how to make new friends, and keep it! Watch the video below and learn more about Tommy and Jackson’s remarkable friendship.
