Katie Newhouser is a UPS driver who travels a regular route that’s just full of fun surprises. Every time she visited a condo complex in Rancho Cucamonga, California, Leo the friendly pit bull would always be there to greet her. Katie said that for some reason, Leo really took a liking to her. He would always come up and lick her whenever she visited.
Leo even liked to enter her UPS truck and sniff around. It’s like the big friendly dog wanted to go with Katie and take a ride. Tina was Leo’s owner and Katie also got to know her because of Leo. Katie often liked to talk to her customers, particularly if they have a dog.
Tina passes away
This idyllic routine lasted for more than a year until a tragedy happened. One day in October, Katie saw that Tina’s son taking out furniture in the back of the condo complex. Curious, Katie tried calling Tina to ask if she was about to move but she didn’t receive a reply. She then checked Facebook and learned that Tina passed away.
Katie knew that Tina’s son was about to join the Marine Corps so she offered to help to take care of Leo. At first, Katie wanted to simply foster Leo until he found a suitable family. But Leo got along so well with the other dogs in her family that she decided to have him stay.
Leo’s enjoys his new home
Leo misses Tina a lot. He whined a lot at night at first. But he recovered gradually, thanks to Katie’s love and the other dogs. Katie says that Leo is one of the sweetest and most gentle dogs that she has ever met. And apparently, her other dogs think the same way.
Her other dogs can be quite grumpy at times, but they became a lot more friendly when Leo arrived. The dogs all have a great bond with one another and they like to run around a lot together.
