For more than 40 years, Dr. Marty Becker worked as a vet. And when he met this dog, he said that this was the first time in his career as a vet that he saw one that was very thin.

The vet clinic that Dr. Marty works at met a pitbull that was emaciated. The dog was brought to the clinic and he was very thin. The staff at the clinic called the dog Lazaruff.

When Lazaruff arrived at the vet clinic, he was not only emaciated – he was also very weak. Dr. Marty knew that this dog would be put on the euthanasia list because of his status so he and his wife named Teresa decided that they would foster Lazaruff. They also knew it was not going to be easy given the dog’s condition.

Dr. Marty and Teresa had to work on the dog and their very first goal was to help the dog gain some weight. Based on his breed, he was underweight by 50 lbs. Helping the dog get a healthy weight would not happen overnight.

The couple worked hard to get to their goal. They knew that Lazaruff still can enjoy life for the second time around. And in no time, the couple’s efforts paid off.

In just six weeks, the dog already gained the needed weight to be healthy. His personality also started to show and Dr. Marty and Teresa knew that they wanted to adopt the dog.

The couple though, also understood that they couldn’t adopt Lazaruff because the dog could only live in a home where other dogs weren’t around. They already had their share of dogs. So Dr. Marty contacted a shelter to help them find a home for Lazaruff. It didn’t take long for them to find one!

Dr. Marty and Teresa drove the long road for six days to get Lazaruff to his new family. The dog’s new family surely was perfect for him and Lazaruff also fell in love with them at their first meeting.
