The shelter life is never easy. Even the dogs and cats with the biggest personalities get weary of staying long-term in shelters.
Eight dogs from a shelter managed by the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals or RSPCA are all too familiar with loneliness and stress. Most of these dogs are staying in the said facility for over four years.
The volunteers of RSPCA thought of a way to lift the spirits of the said shelter dogs. The management arranged a day out for them at a five-star hotel. According to RSPCA press information officer Amy Ockelford, the organization wanted to raise awareness for the amazing dogs. They hoped to do it through a photoshoot while the dogs enjoy a day of relaxation and pampering.
The eight celebrity dogs, George, Roxy, Marvin, Freddie, Trixie, Diamond, Luna, and Bandit, enjoyed a day at the famous Egerton House in London. According to Ockelford, they brought the dogs in on different schedules, so they have their own time to enjoy the experience. As soon as they realize the fun of their luxury stay, they were all excited!
Each of the eight shelter dogs has his or her own unique background stories. George and Trixie are both Staffordshire Bull Terriers rescued by volunteers off the street. Luna was surrendered at the shelter after her owner passed away. Roxy, the Chihuahua-Terrier dog suffers a medical condition – that makes her difficult to adopt.
Marvin, the massive Mastiff, suffers from a tail injury and has been living in the shelter for almost a year. Bandit, another big mixed-breed dog, was also surrendered at the facility. His previous owner confessed that he could no longer afford to take care of the dog. Freddie, a Shih Tzu mix, and Diamond, an American bulldog, were also rescued from abusive and neglectful owners.
All eight celebrity dogs got to enjoy the luxury that they have never experienced before in their lives. They enjoyed toys, plush beds, and all the delicious dog tea and biscuits! Ockelford and the rest of the volunteers from RSPCA hope that the photos from the said vacation would show the real personalities of all eight precious shelter animals. They also wish all of them to find their forever home!
