Just a few weeks earlier, Ethan, a rescue pup, was nearly dying. Fortunately, a family found him in an empty parking lot. Ethan was very thin and malnourished.

The kind family brought Ethan to a shelter and hoped for the best for him. The shelter staff did the best they can for the poor pup, and soon all their efforts paid off. Ethan reached his weight goal of 80 pounds and looks as healthy as ever.

When the pup first arrived at a shelter called Kentucky Humane Society, he weighed just 30 pounds. But now, Ethan gained almost double of his initial weight in just a few weeks. Others who saw Ethan when he first entered the shelter may not even recognize the new healthy pup.

David Hughes, Shawn Henderson, and their 11-year-old son, Tatum, were Ethan’s rescuers. As soon as they found and saw the pup in the parking lot, they felt pity for him and motivated to do what they could to help him. Ever since they handed the pooch over to the shelter, they never once stopped thinking about whether or not he is living a better life with better health. Tatum was especially concerned for Ethan.

Tatum has been an avid follower of the pup’s progress through updates from the shelter. So one day, Ethan’s grandma called them and asked if her dear grandson, Tatum, could see Ethan once more as a healthy pup. The shelter staff was glad to make the reunion happen; they thought it would also be a way for the pooch to say his thanks to his rescuers.

Soon Ethan finally reunited with Tatum. The family was shocked to see Ethan’s progress and was very happy for him. They related that they followed the pup’s progress online, but seeing him in person amazed them even more.

Since Tatum’s birthday was nearing, the shelter staff gave him a surprise from Ethan. Tatum received a “Team Ethan” shirt and a lovely card, which has Ethan’s paw marks on it. Tatum was thrilled to reunite with such a charming pup and even get surprised by the caring staff.

Ethan makes all those around him happy and comfortable. His foster dad, Jeff Callaway, even said that he is amazed by Ethan’s sweet personality despite the struggles he endured. Jeff also expressed his hopes that pups experiencing the same struggles that Ethan faced will also be helped and given a new start in life.
