Borders separating countries are commonplace, yet their consequences are felt more acutely than ever when animal welfare is at risk. For animals, nationality and geographical location do not matter. They simply need shelter.
No Borders Animal Rescue concurs. Their mission is to rescue dogs and other domestic animals that are stray, abused, surrendered, or neglected, regardless of their origin. They are experts at assisting in the rescue of dogs in Mexico, rescuing them from danger and uncertain futures and transporting them to Canada.
Adopting dogs from other countries is a very common occurrence. However, rescuing them from impoverished families is critical. NOBARS believes that every dog, whether it is from Mexico or Canada, deserves to be loved and cared for.
Take Penny Palmer, a NOBARS success story, for example. Penny was discovered in poor health roaming the streets of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico. Jessica Palmer, Penny’s adoptive human, recalled her first impression of her as skin and bones, with matted hair and parasites. Penny is now a well-fed, groomed, and adored member of Jessica’s workplace.
Jessica couldn’t care less whether her adoptive dog came from the same town or across the globe. What was important was that she rescued a pup in distress and provided her with a safe and loving home. According to Robin Tennis, a member of the NOBARS executive committee, all of their adopters agree that animals, regardless of their origin, should be treated with dignity.
Surprisingly, Penny has settled in quite well to life in Canada. Within a week of Jessica bringing her around, they were already going on off-leash beach walks.
Robin continued by stating that NOBARS places a premium on quality over quantity. They always adhere to proper procedures because they believe they owe the best to both the dogs and their rescuers.
