Losing someone you love can inflict a tremendous amount of pain. On the other hand, coping from loss is a very lengthy process and sometimes could result in feeling lonely and sad. How much more if you lose a lot of people in such a short time?
In just over a year, Marisa Elbert lost her dad and helped her 13-year-old pitbull cross the rainbow. Unfortunately, her mom died the following year.
Marisa suffered a significant loss, and she always felt lonely. Until one day, her girlfriend tagged her in a Facebook post about a rescued pit bull who went through abandonment.
Apparently, the pitbull’s owners were breeders and decided to put her down when they found out that she couldn’t get pregnant. Luckily, a close family friend persuaded them to surrender her to an animal rescue.
When Marisa saw the photo of the pit bull named Maisy, she believed it was fate. She thought that her parents and her former dog sent Maisy as a gift. As soon as they finally met, Marissa knew that they were meant for each other and decided to adopt her.
The very first time Maisy stepped on Marissa’s driveway, the pitbull showed her playful side and even kept on making sounds that resemble “woo.” The rescued dog was very energetic, as if she realized she already has her forever home.
Maisy helped Marissa lift some of the weight she has on her shoulders. Also, she always keeps her mom occupied and happy.
“I mean, she gave me something that I was needing,” Marissa told The Dodo. She needed something to cheer her spirits up and something to assure her that she wasn’t alone, and viola! Then came Maisy. Such a perfect match!
