Chubby dogs are perhaps the most adorable thing to look at. However, behind all the cuteness is a serious health issue that must be addressed. Dogs don’t do well if they are obese. Here’s a story about a husky who loves eating too much.
Vixy is an easygoing husky who loves to smell flowers and relax. Her owners run a restaurant, and they cook delicious food regularly. Perhaps that’s why Vixy always has a huge appetite.
Vixy will sometimes try to eat inedible things. She constantly demands food by making a lot of noise. Her owners are worried that she can’t be stopped, and she might grow bigger.
Vixy wasn’t always fat. Her owners found her at a shelter, and she was really thin. They fed her a lot because they wanted her to get into the right shape. However, it seems that Vixy has been overfed and is in need of a diet.
Vixy can run, but her endurance is poor. She gets tired easily only after a few minutes of activity. Her owners have no idea what else to do, so they asked a trainer to step in.
Teacher Lee Chan Jong is an expert who works with SBS TV to train dogs featured on their shows. He has a specific training plan to help Vixy lose weight. He needs the owner’s cooperation for the training to work.
The training involved walking Vixy while there was food in the middle of the path. The goal was to have Vixy ignore the food multiple times. Of course, the first attempt was a failure. However, repetition was the key to Vixy’s success.
The husky learned impulse control. After a while, she was no longer interested in the food, even if it was thrown at her. The training improved Vixy’s endurance and also acted as an exercise for the owners. All they have to do was be consistent and follow Chan Jong.
